Community Bible Church
Description
We are an independent Reformed church that is a combination of former Christian Missionary Alliance, Orthodox Presbyterians, and PCA congregants. Our views are found in the Westminster Confession, which we used to define Wesley's 29 Articles. Technically we function as Calvinistic Methodists after the manner of Martyn Lloyd-Jones and George Whitefield.
The church originally split from the CMA about 40 years ago and held to the Wesleyan view of the possibility of losing one's salvation. This changed when several of the elders adopted Calvinism through the influence of John MacArthur and RC Sproul, and called a Calvinistic Methodist pastor, who helped them develop a Presbyterian form of government and theology.
Our location places us between the cities of Altoona and Johnstown Pennsylvania, near the former mining towns of Lilly, Portage, and Cresson. The area is historically Roman Catholic, and we represent the only Reformed church for about 25 miles in either direction.
